What movies do you show to friends who are "too scared" of horror to help them fall in love with the genre? (e.g., The Addams Family vs. Scream).

For those just dipping their toes into the macabre, I often suggest films that lean into atmosphere and gothic elegance rather than outright terror. 'The Others' comes to mind, for its perfectly unsettling ambience.

I am a big Vincent Price and Boris Karloff fan, I can still sleep at night after watching these movies they hit the spot for classic horror for my taste, no gore and sometimes they make you laugh.

For "scaredy cats" or little kids I'd recommend the Hotel Transylvania movies since they're kid friends but can get you a quick introduction to the classic monsters.

If they're a little more brave than that the recent Asylum mockbuster, Monster Mash, from 2024, is a nice homage to the classic monsters and a quick crash course on the classics.
